Help Save Rural Knox

Commission Meeting 2/26/24 @ 5pm

Knox County Commission will consider the Advance Knox Growth Policy Plan at their Monday, February 26 meeting that begins at 5PM in the Main Assembly Room of the City-County Building.

The Growth Plan amendment does not provide protection for our rural character and nature. In 2-3 more years, the new Growth Plan will open up over 10,000 acres of the county to be built out without any improved development standards being applied. We need the Advance Knox plan to provide protections that are enforced. We need a balanced plan, that encourages business and housing where it is best provided, and just as importantly discourages development of our remaining agricultural and open space land.

It's time to contact County Commissioners, the County Mayor, and your neighbors. And, we need your presence on Monday night to show that Knox Countians are paying attention and want our rural lands protected. Share this email with your friends and neighbors, and bring a few with you Monday night.

You may submit comments, and you may also sign up to speak at the meeting at this link: https://commission.knoxcountytn.gov/public-forums/ (for agenda item, specify "Growth Plan" and for the meeting it is the Commission Meeting, NOT the zoning meeting)

You can contact commissioners individually - https://commission.knoxcountytn.gov/people/ by phone or email. Phone is better, because it sends a signal that you are engaged and very interested. If they do not answer, leave a voicemail.
