Be Vigilant
There are lots of reasons to be watching the happenings in Knoxville right now. First are the brave attempts of a couple of our County Commissioners to create accountability in our county government. District 9 Commissioner Andy Fox has sponsored an ordinance to create better oversight of federal grant applications, and District 7 Commissioner Rhonda Lee has drafted a resolution to urge the Tennessee General Assembly to enact legislation allowing voters to elect utility board members. Please reach out to both of these commissioners and support their efforts. The next County Commission Meeting is May 19th @ 5pm at the City-County Building, 400 Main St . You can sign up to speak by calling 865-215-2534 or submitting a request on their online contact form no later than 4pm on the day prior to the meeting.
Work on the Knox County budget is currently underway. The proposed budget is $1.1B, which must be approved by June 30th . The school system receives the lion’s share of the money; however, the amount designated for Visit Knoxville is a huge concern. Huge as in $4.8M of your tax dollars with no accountability for how it is spent. Want to see what they promote with YOUR money? The below are images from their website: https://www.visitknoxville.com/plan-your-visit/lgbtq-pride/

And, if you have been following Knox for Liberty since 2022, you know that one of our first objectives was to stop the all ages drag show at the TN Theatre. We stood alongside Patriot Church members from Lenoir City to protest the event on December 22, 2022. We still have Instagram videos of those on the other side of the street, who vehemently screamed that children must be allowed to be subjected to this adult content. The person in this article was THE loudest screamer (with a megaphone) at the event. Now, you understand why. Shame on the citizens and the nearly 700 churches of our Knox County community who refused to take a stand against this.

By the way, your Knox County Commission also refused (twice) to vote for Commissioner Lee’s resolution R 24 11 903 to protect children from adult content and continue to fund it (with your tax dollars) to this day.

Liberty Thought
“It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." --Samuel Adams
