January 2026

Happy New Year

Well, friends, we are boldly going into a new year where no man has gone before. As you are making all of your New Year’s Resolutions, we ask you to consider how you will use your talents, time, and energy to help protect our freedoms and way of life in Knox County in 2026. The battles are many, and the soldiers are few. Please pray about His assignment for you in this new year.

KFL Meeting January 5th

Did you set your reminder? Our next meeting is Monday January 5th @ 7pm at 6706 Central Avenue Pike. Doors open at 6:30pm to socialize with old friends and make some new ones. Our guest speakers will be State Representative Elaine Davis, District 7 County Commission Candidate Barry Beeler, and District 9 School Board Candidate Bill Sofield. Let’s start out the new year by encouraging friends and family to get involved in protecting our faith, family, and freedom. You can begin by inviting them to this meeting!

Petitions Available Now

Knox County desperately needs strong conservative candidates in the upcoming May Primary. We especially need candidates for school board in districts 1, 4, and 6 and county commission at-large seats. Petitions are available now for the offices below and must be returned by February 19th . Please consider running for office or encouraging someone you know. If we want a godly, constitutional, and moral government, we must identify and elect candidates accordingly, and we must sometimes be willing to be those candidates.

Knox GOP Updates

There are lots of interesting things going on with the Knox County GOP that are worthy of our continued attention. Stay vigilant, patriots!

1. According to an article in November from Gary Loe with the West Knox Republican Club, the state GOP has an initiative underway to remove the word “Republican” from all of the local club names. The reasoning is unknown, and we don’t have any further details. However, this is definitely an issue to continue monitoring. Something smells fishy.

2. On December 15th at the GOP’s regular monthly meeting, Treasurer Martin Ammons proposed a resolution solidifying the county party’s support for closed primary elections. The Chair, Martin Daniel, and all of the State Executive Committee (SEC) members in attendance (Brian Hornback, Tim Hutchison, & Jane Chedester) and former GOP Chair Buddy Burkhart voted to table the resolution to a later date. Chairman Daniel gave a list of items he felt would prevent primaries from being closed in Tennessee including: Governor Lee would not approve/support, the party “tent” needs to be broadened and become more inclusive, it would be cost prohibitive, etc. The party’s growing desire to be “inclusive” should be a huge red flag to everyone. Sounds like they want a purple TN instead of red.

In addition, on December 27th at 10am, the party held a forum regarding closing primaries which included Senator Richard Briggs and State Representative Dave Wright. These are the same Knoxville “Republicans” pushing to keep the primaries open because they depend on crossover Democrat votes to win their primaries (according to their most recent comments at a separate forum). Needless to say, there was nothing new to report from this event.

3. The January meeting date has been changed, as Chair Martin Daniel will be out of town and seemed reluctant to allow Vice Chair Kyle Nahrebne to conduct the meeting in his absence. The meeting has been rescheduled to January 26th at 5731 Lyons View Pike @ 6:30pm.

4. A Mayoral forum is being planned for March 19th @ 6pm at Bearden Banquet Hall. Stay tuned for more details.
