Legislative Update
February 22, 2025
Calling all Tennessee Patriots!
This week starts early, as three bills have advanced to the floor of the House and Senate for afternoon votes on Monday, Feb 24th. The House bill allows a County Legislative Body to fire an appointee who fails to perform their duties with a two-thirds vote. On the Senate side, one authorizes the State Attorney General to investigate & criminally prosecute our judicial officials who violate conflicts of interest whether personal, financial, or political and/or have direct supervision of relatives, while the other authorizes the Secretary of State to administratively dissolve entities that either file materially false documentation or are controlled by our foreign adversaries posing as governments/non-governmental persons.
In committees this week, we seek to limit the Governor's Emergency Powers to remain within TN constitutional law, with special instructions to prevent localities from “piling on” to curtail our religious freedom and right to bear arms. Lastly, our TN Constitution does not align with the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. A resolution has been introduced to modify the language to give TN citizens true Constitutional Carry.
Check out the video below for updates on the bills for the coming week. Also, please be sure to identify yourself as a TCGC follower when you are contacting your representatives and senators. Our voices are louder when we speak as one.
